Cardiovascular Flow

Our group is collaborating with the Advanced Flow Diagnostics Laboratory (AFDL) at Auburn University to apply advanced imaging techniques to understand flow mediated problems or diseases in the cardiovascular system. For example, the figure below illustrates the application of plenoptic PIV to investigate three-dimensional flow across a transcatheter aortic valve. Plenoptic PIV is a novel technique that can measure volumetric velocity field data using a single camera. The figure below also illustrates the validation of plenoptic PIV with standard 2D planar PIV at the same flow conditions.
