MultiRotor Aeromechanics

MultiRotor Aeromechanics is another primary area of interest for our research group. Current designs for rotor based unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and full-scale helicopters often include multi-rotor configurations (see figure below for example of a side-by-side rotor). Among several aeromechanics challenges, we are interested in understanding the interactional aerodynamics of such advanced configurations in proximity to a wall or a ground. We are also interested in understanding such interactions when the proximal wall is undergoing dynamic motion.
